Peaks of Colour
Peaks of Colour – Documentary
Directed by Darshan Gajjar & Ai Narapol
Peaks of Colour follows Evie Muir—a social justice activist, domestic abuse survivor, and journalist—as she shares how nature has been central to her healing. In Sheffield, Evie founded a mental health and wellbeing group for people of colour, creating a safe and welcoming space in an environment that has historically been white-dominated.
The film begins with an intimate, portrait-style visual of Evie speaking her story, before expanding to the wider community she has built—Peaks of Colour—capturing their shared experiences and the vital importance of inclusion for people of colour in the Peak District.
This documentary was funded by the Sheffield Adventure Film Festival (SHAFF) as part of their Rookie Filmmaker Award 2022/23. Guided by our mentor Tim at Coldhouse, we crafted a story that celebrates resilience, community, and the healing power of nature. The film premiered at the Showroom Cinema on March 3, 2023 as part of SHAFF.
